The Israeli military revealed that a drone attack by Hezbollah caused the death of one of their soldiers, while both sides have exchanged increasing retaliatory strikes over the past few days.
On 30 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that an Israeli soldier died after being attacked by a Hezbollah drone during duty in southern Lebanon. Both sides resumed attacks despite a ceasefire being declared.
The IDF stated that the soldier who died was Corporal Liam Ben Hamo, only 19 years old, a combat soldier in the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade. The military said the soldier’s family has been notified of his death.
"In the incident in which Corporal Liam Ben Hamo was killed, another IDF soldier sustained moderate injuries," the statement added, noting, "The injured soldier has been sent to hospital for treatment, and his family has also been informed."
Earlier, the Israeli military revealed that in a separate incident, a Hezbollah drone crashed into a military vehicle in northern Israel, injuring 12 soldiers.
