Donald Trump Jokes About Not Wearing Bulletproof Vest for Fear of Looking Bigger

Donald Trump made a joking remark that he does not want to wear a bulletproof vest because it would make him look bigger, despite recently facing an assassination attempt at a major national event.

This statement came during an interview with reporters in the Oval Office, when he was asked about security measures following a shooting at the White House press dinner last weekend.

The U.S. leader responded with humor, saying, "I'm not sure I could handle wearing a bulletproof vest if it makes me look like I've gained 20 more pounds," while acknowledging that although it's something to consider, he does not want to give in to threats.

The incident involved a suspect named Cole Thomas Allen, who stormed the event area armed with a gun. Prosecutors believe he fired at least one shot, while U.S. Secret Service agents returned fire multiple times.

One Secret Service officer was shot but survived because he was wearing a bulletproof vest. The assailant was injured and later taken into custody.

Despite the incident heightening security concerns, Trump maintained a stance against increasing personal protective measures, particularly regarding wearing a bulletproof vest.
