Donald Trump revealed that he has not yet reviewed all the details of Iran's peace proposal but may reject it because Iran has not sufficiently compensated for what it has done to the world.
On 3 May 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump stated in a post on Truth Social that he has not clearly reviewed the new peace proposal from Iran but is likely to reject it because he views that Iran has not "compensated enough."
"I will review the plan Iran just sent us soon, but I cannot imagine how it could be acceptable when they have not paid a high enough price for what they have done to humanity and this world over the past 47 years," Trump's post stated.
Trump's remarks came after he recently hinted at the possibility of launching another airstrike operation in Iran, marking the latest confusion from the U.S. leader as he seeks to end the war he initiated in late February.
On Sunday, Israel ordered thousands of Lebanese civilians to evacuate various villages in the southern part of the country, escalating the latest conflict between Israel and the Hezbollah group. Israel's continued attacks in Lebanon could further complicate peace efforts.
The Iranian government stated that negotiations with the U.S. cannot restart unless a ceasefire is declared in Lebanon as well.
In April, Israel and Lebanon reached a ceasefire agreement, but fighting has continued, albeit at a reduced scale, with both Israel and Hezbollah accusing each other of violating the ceasefire.
Earlier on Friday, Trump told the media he was dissatisfied with Iran's proposal, but on Saturday he said, "I have not yet received all the details. They only told me the main concepts of the agreement, but now they are about to send me the precise wording."
When asked if he might launch another attack on Iran, Trump responded, "I don’t want to say that. I can’t tell the reporters. If they behave badly, if they do something bad, then we would see it by now. But it is a possibility that could happen."
