Tourists Alarmed as Crocodile Spotted Off Sentosa Island Coast Singapore Authorities Immediately Suspend Water Activities

Singapore authorities have ordered the suspension of water activities at the popular beaches of Sentosa Island after a crocodile was spotted floating in the sea near Sentosa Cove on Wednesday evening.

The National Parks Board of Singapore (NParks), together with the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC), immediately launched a search operation after receiving reports of a crocodile spotted near the shore. They announced the suspension of water activities such as swimming and kayaking at Siloso Beach, Palawan Beach, and Tanjong Beach until further notice.

However, the three beaches remain open as usual, with officials increasing patrols and monitoring along the island’s shoreline to ensure tourists' safety.

This is the second crocodile sighting in the waters around Sentosa Island this year. The first was reported at the end of January, when authorities also suspended water activities before reopening them after more than a week.

Additionally, last week a crocodile was reported in Keppel Bay, prompting NParks to install warning signs advising the public to exercise caution near the water’s edge.

Officials advise that if a crocodile is sighted, people should remain calm and slowly move away. They should avoid approaching, provoking, or feeding the animal, and promptly report the sighting to NParks via the agency’s emergency hotline.
