Iranian media reported that the situation along Iran's coasts and islands is starting to return to normal after clashes with U.S. forces, with no reports of casualties or injuries.

On 7 May 2026, Iranian official media reported that the situation along the coasts and islands has calmed following hours of exchanges of fire between U.S. and Iranian forces throughout the Strait of Hormuz area.

“Following hours of clashes, the situation on Iran’s islands and coastal cities along the Strait of Hormuz has now returned to normal,” stated Press TV.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) cited reports from government media correspondents in Hormozgan province in southern Iran, home to the coastal and island areas along the strait, confirming that so far no civilians have been reported injured or killed.

This latest development followed a statement by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announcing that U.S. forces targeted Iranian military facilities used to launch missiles, drones, and small boats attacking U.S. warships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, despite “no prior provocation.”

“U.S. forces intercepted an unprovoked attack from Iran and responded with a defensive strike while U.S. Navy guided missile destroyers were transiting the Strait of Hormuz toward the Gulf of Oman on 7 May,” CENTCOM said, confirming no U.S. assets were damaged in the attack.

According to CENTCOM, the Iranian facilities targeted by U.S. forces included missile and drone launch bases, command and control centers, as well as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance units.

Earlier, Iranian official media reported that commercial facilities at Bahman Pier on Qeshm Island were targeted during clashes between Iran’s security forces and “enemy forces.”
