Trump Warns Iran to Quickly Sign Agreement or Face Heavier Attacks

Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran that the U.S. would launch more intense attacks if they did not quickly sign an agreement, following clashes between forces on both sides near the Strait of Hormuz.

On 7 May 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the U.S. military had destroyed Iranian attackers targeting three U.S. Navy destroyers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. He warned, "We will strike back harder and much more forcefully" if Iran does not sign an agreement soon.

"Three of America’s world-class destroyers just passed through the Strait of Hormuz amid heavy fire. None of the ships sustained damage, but severe damage was inflicted on the Iranian attackers," Trump’s post stated.

"They were completely destroyed along with many small boats, which were being used to replace their navy that had been crushed," Trump added. "Missiles were fired at our destroyers but were easily shot down, as were drones sent, which were burned out mid-air."

Trump further warned Iran not to escalate tensions, saying, "If they had the chance to use nuclear weapons, they would do so without hesitation—but they will never get that chance. Just as we struck them down again today, we will strike them harder and much more forcefully in the future if they do not sign an agreement immediately!"

Trump’s post came after the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that U.S. forces attacked Iranian military facilities used for launching missiles, drones, and small boats, accusing Iran of firing these weapons at U.S. warships "without any provocation."
