The U.S. Department of Defense has revealed previously unreleased secret UFO-UAP files and is progressively releasing videos, images, and documents following an order from Donald Trump.
On 8 May 2026 GMT+7, the U.S. Department of Defense, or the Pentagon, disclosed documents and data about UFOs or unidentified flying objects that had never been made public before. This followed an order earlier this year from President Donald Trump directing government agencies to begin releasing information about extraterrestrial life and mysterious aerial phenomena.
The Pentagon stated via the X platform that the public can now access declassified secret documents related to UAPs, or “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena,” the modern term for UFOs. It added that the latest videos, photographs, and original documents about UAPs from U.S. government agencies have been consolidated in one place, accessible without any security clearance.
Furthermore, the U.S. Department of Defense announced it will continue to release additional information periodically every few weeks as new discoveries are made and more documents are declassified.
Interest in extraterrestrials surged again in February when former President Barack Obama said on a podcast, “Aliens are real, but I have never seen them.” He later clarified that during his presidency, he found no evidence of alien contact with Earth. Shortly after, Trump posted on Truth Social directing the Pentagon and relevant agencies to begin the process of disclosing government files on extraterrestrial life.
Jared Isaacman, an executive at the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), praised Trump for promoting transparency to the public regarding UAP issues. He stated that NASA will continue to disclose factual information—what is known, what remains unclear, and what is yet to be discovered—emphasizing that exploration and knowledge-seeking are central to NASA's mission to unlock the universe's mysteries.
