Donald Trump posted that he does not like the response Iran gave regarding the new peace proposal submitted by the U.S., calling Iran's reply entirely unacceptable.
On 10 May 2026, Iranian state media reported that their government sent a response to the U.S. peace proposal through Pakistan, which acts as an intermediary between the two sides, without revealing the details of their reply.
However, just hours later, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he did not like Iran’s response at all.
"I just read the response from those who call themselves Iran's ‘representatives.’ I do not like it at all — it is completely unacceptable! Thank you for your attention on this matter, President Donald J. Trump." The president did not provide any further details about Iran’s response.
Earlier, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations stated that the U.S. has clearly outlined what it expects from Iran and that the global economy can no longer be held hostage by Iran.
"The world should not tolerate the Iranian regime’s attempt to squeeze the global economy," said Mike Waltz, U.S. Ambassador to the UN, in an interview on Fox News Sunday.
"They cannot begin indiscriminately planting sea mines in the ocean to disrupt shipping," Waltz added. "Now they are even broadcasting on Iranian state television about destroying undersea cables that carry crucial financial, cloud, and economic data in and out of the Persian Gulf."
"We will see what Iran replied last night concerning our very clear ‘red line,’" Waltz said. "President Trump has consistently stated they will never possess nuclear weapons, and they cannot hold the global economy hostage."
Despite ongoing tensions, Waltz emphasized that while the U.S. is prepared for renewed conflict, Trump wants to focus on diplomacy. "He is giving diplomacy every possible chance before resorting to military force," Waltz said.
