Thai-Israeli Friendship Playground Celebrates 72 Years of Diplomatic Relations, Now Open in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi

Thailand and Israel jointly opened the "Israel-Thailand Friendship Playground" at Baan Ua Arthorn Bang Yai in Nonthaburi Province to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.,

On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Israel and Thailand, the Embassy of Israel in Thailand and MASHAV (Israel’s Center for International Development Cooperation) partnered with Thailand's National Housing Authority.

They held the opening ceremony for the "Israel-Thailand Friendship Playground" at the Baan Ua Arthorn Bang Yai (Wat Phra Ngern) project in Nonthaburi, following the groundbreaking ceremony held last year.

Israel is well known as the "Startup Nation" and is widely recognized as a leader in innovation, promoting equality and accessibility for people with disabilities. This fully accessible playground reflects the belief that all children, regardless of physical limitations, should have equal opportunities to play, interact, and grow in an inclusive and accepting environment.

The Israel-Thailand Friendship Playground is open and accessible to all, designed to be safe and inclusive, encouraging equality, participation, and community bonding. This project embodies the principle of embracing differences, a value deeply rooted in Israeli society, and demonstrates the Embassy of Israel’s commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries at both governmental and people-to-people levels.

The Baan Ua Arthorn Bang Yai (Wat Phra Ngern) project is managed by the National Housing Authority and houses about 7,000 residents, including around 1,500 children and youth. This first fully accessible playground was built on a 360-square-meter multifunctional area, with equipment provided and installed through support from the Embassy of Israel in Thailand and MASHAV.

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Tawepong Wichaidit, Governor of the National Housing Authority, along with members of the Baan Ua Arthorn Bang Yai community.

On this occasion, Israel’s Ambassador to Thailand, Dr. Alona Fisher-Kamm, said, "A playground is where children first learn to coexist. It is a place where they discover cooperation, kindness, confidence, and learn to respect differences. It is where empathy is born and nurtured. This is the foundation for building and sustaining a strong society. For over seventy years, Israelis and Thais have cooperated, learned from, and supported each other, building bridges between our societies. This playground, though small, is a meaningful bridge created for children, families, communities, and the future."
