Iran Submits Revised War-Ending Proposal to U.S. via Pakistan

Iran has sent a revised proposal to end the war to the United States through Pakistan, which serves as the intermediary, while peace talks between the two parties remain at a standstill.

Reuters reported on 18 May 2026, citing multiple sources, that Pakistan, acting as the peace negotiations mediator, has received Iran's revised war-ending proposal and forwarded it to the United States, warning that both sides "have little time left" to resolve their conflict.

Later, Esmail Bakaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a statement confirming that Tehran’s position has been "conveyed to the American side through Pakistan," but did not disclose further details.

Currently, the fragile ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States remains, but negotiations mediated by Pakistan have stalled, and U.S. President Donald Trump has said that the ceasefire is in a condition requiring significant life support.

Pakistani sources did not provide details about the revised proposal, but when asked if resolving the conflict would take much longer, they replied that both sides "keep adjusting their conditions continuously," adding, "We don’t have much time left."

The U.S. and Iran have conflicting demands that have stalled talks. Washington calls on Iran to abandon its nuclear program and end its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route for oil and global goods.

Meanwhile, Iran demands that the U.S. pay compensation for war damages, lift the blockade of Iranian ports, and cease fire on all battlefronts, including Lebanon where Israel is fighting the Iran-backed Hezbollah armed group.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently posted a new warning to Iran on Sunday, stating, “Time is running out” for Iran, adding, “They should act quickly and decisively before they have nothing left. Time is very important.”

Later, Bakaei said at a weekly press briefing that Iran is prepared for all scenarios and regarding Trump’s threats, “Rest assured, we are fully aware of how to respond appropriately to even the slightest mistake by the opposing side.”
