On 25 May 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump posted a new message on Truth Social revealing plans to destroy Iran's weapons-grade uranium, stating that the material would be transported to the United States or destroyed at its original location or another site.
“Weapons-grade uranium (or nuclear dust!) must be immediately handed over to the United States to be destroyed at home, or if possible, destroyed in place with cooperation and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, or destroyed at another acceptable location, with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or an equivalent agency witnessing the process and event,” Trump's post stated.
Last week, Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office at the White House that the U.S. would not relent in reclaiming Iran’s weapons-grade uranium, but this latest statement shows he is increasingly open to Tehran’s involvement in the process.
“We would destroy it immediately after we get it, but we will definitely not let them keep it,” Trump said on Thursday, 21 May 2026 GMT+7.
