White House Denies Iranian Medias False Report on Draft MOU Content

The U.S. White House responded to an Iranian government media report on a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), branding the report as "entirely fabricated."

On Wednesday, 27 May 2026, the White House Rapid Response team posted on platform X that the report from Iranian state-controlled media is untrue, and the draft MOU they "released" is completely made up. They warned no one should believe what Iranian government media is presenting, emphasizing "truth is important."

Previously, Iranian state media reported that the draft MOU would require U.S. forces to withdraw from areas near Iran and lift blockades on various Iranian ports.

However, some details resemble statements by U.S. officials about a forthcoming agreement, where American officials said President Donald Trump is willing to lift the maritime blockade as long as Iran allows commercial vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

"As President Trump has stated, negotiations are progressing well, and he has made his red lines clear. President Trump will only make a good deal that benefits the American people, and that deal must ensure Iran never obtains nuclear weapons," White House spokesperson Olivia Wells said.
