Irans Supreme Leader Warns Enemies Are Trying to Create Division to Conceal Military Failures

Iran's Supreme Leader warned that enemies are trying to create division within the country, while the U.S. accused Iran of violating the ceasefire agreement after Kuwait was attacked by missiles.

On 29 May 2026, Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, issued a statement on the state-run IRIB television, warning that Iran's enemies are attempting to sow division and discord in society to compensate for their failures on the military front, as well as economic and political pressures faced. He stated that external pressures cannot make Iran surrender, so these enemies have resorted to trying to create internal divisions instead.

The Iranian leader's statement comes amid renewed tensions in the Middle East, after the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) accused Iran of violating a fragile ceasefire agreement following reports that Kuwait was attacked by missiles on Wednesday evening.

Kuwaiti authorities said they were able to intercept the missiles, while the Kuwaiti government condemned the attack as a blatant act of aggression. This latest clash has cast doubt on efforts to negotiate an end to the war between the U.S. and Iran, after both sides indicated willingness to pursue diplomacy but continued to accuse each other of violating the ceasefire terms.

Analysts view the regional situation as extremely fragile, noting that even minor military actions could abruptly derail the ongoing negotiations.
