The Iranian presidential office has denied rumors that Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has submitted a resignation letter, describing it as a foreign media game and emphasizing he remains committed to serving the people.
Iranian authorities have dismissed reports claiming that President Masoud Pezeshkian has resigned, affirming that such information is false. Mehdi Tabatabaei, deputy head of communications at the Iranian presidential office, posted on platform X that the resignation rumors are false and part of a media game spread by certain foreign outlets.
He stated that President Pezeshkian will not step back from his duty to serve the Iranian people and reiterated that Iran will not abandon the path of national unity and solidarity.
Tabatabaei also said those attempting to undermine Iran's unity will be disappointed once again and denied reports suggesting internal divisions within the country.
These developments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran in late February, after which Iran retaliated by striking targets in Israel and U.S. allied countries in the Persian Gulf, including closing the Strait of Hormuz.
Although a ceasefire agreement was reached on 8 April with Pakistan as mediator, subsequent negotiations have yet to result in a permanent peace accord.
Currently, Iran and the U.S. continue exchanging proposals and counterarguments in an effort to resume direct talks and end the ongoing conflict.
