The US military revealed it intercepted two Iranian missiles targeting American forces in Kuwait amid renewed tensions after Iran suspended talks to protest Israel.
On 1 Jun 2026 GMT+7, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced via the X platform Monday morning that its forces successfully intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles aimed at US troops stationed in Kuwait.
CENTCOM stated the interceptions occurred at 11:00 p.m. local US time on Sunday, with both missiles immediately destroyed and no US personnel injured.
"US Central Command continues to closely monitor the situation and will protect our forces from Iranian aggression while supporting the ongoing ceasefire agreement," the statement said.
This incident occurred amid retaliatory attacks between Iran and the US over the weekend. CENTCOM revealed Sunday that US forces targeted Iranian radar and drone command centers in Goruk city and Qeshm Island, Iran, in self-defense.
On Monday, Iranian media reported authorities suspended talks with the US to protest Israel’s ongoing attacks in Lebanon, which they view as violating the ceasefire. They are reportedly preparing plans to close the Strait of Hormuz and expand the conflict front in response.
