Trump Reveals Iran Has Not Officially Halted Talks, Says He Can Wait as Naval Blockade Continues

Donald Trump revealed that Iran has not notified the United States about suspending negotiations but insisted that even if they do, he can wait indefinitely and will continue the naval blockade until a good agreement is reached.

On 1 Jun 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump told local reporters that Iran has not officially informed the U.S. that it intends to suspend talks, despite previous Iranian media reports that Tehran would halt discussions to protest Israel's continued attacks on Lebanon.

Trump also implied that he has no problem waiting until the Tehran government agrees to an acceptable deal.

"I think we've talked too much already. If you want the truth, I think complete silence would be best," Trump told NBC News in a phone interview, emphasizing that this development does not mean the U.S. will resume full-scale attacks.

"It doesn't mean we're going in and bombing everywhere around there," Trump told NBC. "We're just going to stay quiet too, and we will continue the blockade. This blockade is as strong as steel," referring to the naval blockade where the U.S. Navy intercepts ships from entering Iranian ports.

Trump, who has consistently insisted he does not feel pressured to quickly reach a deal, maintained that he holds the advantage over the Tehran government, stating, "I think I can wait as long as they need."
