Trump Claims Talks with Netanyahu and Hezbollah Lead to Ceasefire Agreement

Donald Trump revealed that he has spoken with the leaders of Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides agreeing not to attack each other, and Israel agreeing not to send troops into Beirut.

On 1 Jun 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he had completed phone talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon, with both sides agreeing to cease attacks against each other.

"I had a very productive conversation with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu of Israel, and there will be no deployment of military forces to Beirut. Any forces en route have been ordered to turn back," Trump's post stated.

"Similarly, I had very smooth talks with Hezbollah through their senior representatives, and they agreed that all retaliatory fire will end — Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel."

Trump's statement came after Netanyahu ordered the military to launch strikes on the Dahieh district of Beirut on Monday, a stronghold of Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that Tehran's government decided to suspend negotiations with the U.S. to protest Israel's expanded attacks in Lebanon over recent days, which they view as a violation of the ceasefire agreement. They are also preparing plans to close the Strait of Hormuz and open additional fronts in response.
