Lebanese authorities have revealed that Hezbollah has accepted the United States' ceasefire proposal with Israel, stating that they will stop attacking Israel in exchange for Israel ceasing its attacks on Beirut.
On 1 Jun 2026 GMT+7, the Lebanese government confirmed that Hezbollah has agreed to the U.S. call for a ceasefire with Israel, according to a statement from the Lebanese Embassy in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States.
"Under this proposal, Israel's attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut must cease, in exchange for Hezbollah refraining from carrying out attacks against Israel," the statement said.
The statement added that following this, the ceasefire framework will be expanded to cover the remaining areas throughout Lebanon.
This statement came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced he had spoken with Hezbollah leaders “through a senior representative,” stating, “They agreed that all retaliatory fire would cease — Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared after speaking with Donald Trump that Israel will continue its planned attacks in southern Lebanon and will launch strikes on Beirut if Hezbollah's attacks persist.
