A major fire erupted in the Kemayoran slum area in central Jakarta, Indonesia, causing extensive damage to homes and buildings amid widespread panic among the local population.
Officials revealed that the flames spread rapidly, destroying approximately 300 houses and buildings, forcing more than 600 residents to evacuate and become affected by the fire.
However, firefighters managed to control and extinguish the blaze within about one hour, with no reports of casualties from the incident.
Preliminary investigations by relevant agencies suggest the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit inside an unoccupied house, as the owner was absent when the fire started and then spread to nearby areas.
This fire caused severe damage to the Jakarta community, one of the most densely populated areas, highlighting the risks posed by electrical systems in residential zones with many closely built structures.
