Kuwait Expels Two Iranian Diplomats After Tehrans Attack on Airport Kills 1 and Injures Many

Kuwait has declared two Iranian diplomats persona non grata and requested their departure after Iran attacked Kuwait International Airport, causing one death and dozens of injuries.

On Wednesday, 3 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement announcing that it has declared two members of the Iranian diplomatic mission as "persona non grata" and has called for their departure from the country.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs explained, "This decision follows Iran's persistent and relentless missile and drone attacks, which recurred again in the early hours today, targeting civilian facilities and multiple important locations, including Kuwait International Airport."

Kuwait's move came after summoning Iranian Deputy Ambassador Hamed Hamid Yakoubi Far to formally present a protest letter over Iran's recent attacks on Kuwait.

Earlier, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that among Iran’s various attacks, one targeted Kuwait International Airport, resulting in the death of one Indian national and injuring more than 60 others, marking it as the deadliest Iranian attack causing the highest number of casualties since the conflict erupted on 28 Feb.

Iran claimed that their targets included U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, as well as a ship near the Strait of Hormuz, in retaliation for the U.S. missile "Hellfire" strike against a Botswana-flagged oil tanker heading to Iran's Kharg Island port.
