Donald Trump admitted that he used profane language to criticize Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli leader, during a phone call on Monday because he was displeased with Netanyahu's continuous attacks in Lebanon.
On 3 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, admitted that he used strong profanity against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their telephone conversation on the previous Monday, as earlier reported by U.S. media.
In an interview published on Wednesday (3 Jun), the interviewer asked Trump, “Did you say ‘What the f- are you doing?’, ‘You’re f-ing crazy’, and ‘I’m helping you avoid jail’?”
Trump replied, “Yes... I was a bit upset about his relentless fighting in Lebanon... I told him, ‘Bibi’ (Netanyahu’s nickname), ‘We have to stop this.’”
However, Trump went on to say that he still has a “very good relationship” with Netanyahu, stating, “We work well together... I like Bibi a lot.”
Axios and ABC News reported that Trump exploded in anger and used profane language because he was unhappy with Israel’s threat to bomb Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, fearing such actions would undermine negotiations with the Iranian government to end the Middle East conflict.
This verbal clash highlights the strained relationship between the two right-wing allied leaders, who initiated war by attacking Iran on 28 Feb, escalating the situation to the current Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
Israeli media have denied reports concerning the details of this conversation.
White House officials confirmed the good relationship between Trump and Netanyahu, directing AFP to see Trump’s post on the Truth Social platform from Monday, in which Trump thanked Netanyahu for agreeing to withdraw troops from Beirut.
