Donald Trump insisted that Benjamin Netanyahu has no alternative but to accept any agreement the U.S. makes with Iran because the Israeli leader is not the one in control.
On Sunday, 7 Jun 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump told The Financial Times (FT) that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must accept any deal the United States reaches with Iran, as the Israeli leader “is not the one in control.”
“I am the one running the game. I make all the decisions. He (Netanyahu) is not the one with the authority to decide on this,” Donald Trump said, adding, “He has no other choice.”
Moreover, Trump affirmed that the missile attack Iran launched against Israel on Sunday night “will have no impact on the agreement.”
“We will have to see how this ends, but those attacks hardly caused any disruption. It’s just one of the many conflicts that have lasted for 3,000 years or 47 years, depending on where you start counting,” Trump said.
Trump’s remarks about the Israeli leader follow his statement last week expressing strong dissatisfaction with Netanyahu over Israel’s military plans in Lebanon, at a time when the U.S. is trying to advance a peace agreement with Iran.
Notably, Netanyahu has been a harsh critic of the Iran nuclear deal reached during former President Barack Obama’s administration. In 2015, he told the United Nations (UN) that the deal merely rewarded Iran’s “bad behavior.”
