Iranian Military Declares Halt to Latest Attacks on Israel but Issues Warning Regarding Lebanon

The Iranian military announced it has ceased the latest wave of attacks on Israel that began Sunday night, but warned that if Israel continues to attack southern Lebanon, they will respond with greater force.

On Monday, 8 June 2026 GMT+7, the Central Command "Qatam al-Anbiya," Iran's supreme military command, issued a statement declaring an end to the recent military operations against Israel. However, it warned that if Israel continues attacks in southern Lebanon, Iran will retaliate more decisively and harshly.

This statement followed Iran's renewed missile strikes into Israeli territory starting Sunday night and continuing throughout Monday, marking the first attacks on Israel since Iran reached a ceasefire agreement with the US and Israel.

Senior Iranian political and military officials issued warnings yesterday evening that Iran would respond to any violations of the ceasefire by Israel. Iran affirmed that the ceasefire in Lebanon is part of the agreement, despite denials by Israel and the United States.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian posted on X after the military announced the halt to attacks, stating that the country's top priority is "national security and the peace of our people," adding that Iran "will not back down from any threat whatsoever."
