Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un pledged to continue strengthening cooperation between their countries during the Chinese leader’s visit to Pyongyang, with plans to expand collaboration across various sectors.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un vowed to advance their cooperation during a highly watched summit held last Monday.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), during the meeting Xi Jinping stated that China is ready to broaden cooperation with North Korea in many fields, including trade, agriculture, construction, and technology.
The report noted that Xi Jinping said both countries should enhance strategic cooperation and jointly safeguard their sovereignty and security interests firmly.
Kim Jong Un said that Xi Jinping’s visit clearly demonstrates the unshakable nature of the relationship between North Korea and China.
Chinese media also quoted Kim as saying that continuing the new-era friendship between the two countries is an unchanging strategic choice for North Korea.
However, full details of the discussions have not yet been disclosed.
Previously, foreign experts predicted that this summit could significantly impact China-North Korea relations and the broader international situation, as both nations seek to restore their historic alliance amid ongoing conflicts with the United States.
The most recent meeting between Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un took place in Beijing last September after they attended a joint military parade with Russian President Vladimir Putin and several other foreign leaders.
