The Israeli military launched a new round of attacks in Lebanon on Tuesday morning (local time), just one day after Iran warned it would retaliate against Israel if the attacks persisted.
Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported on Tuesday, 9 Jun 2026 GMT+7, that Israeli missiles struck residential areas in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, an ancient city, resulting in at least nine deaths and 29 injuries.
NNA also reported that nearby shops suffered severe damage. On Monday, Israel had already killed at least five people in the same city.
An Israeli military source confirmed the attacks in Tyre to CNN, stating they were targeting the infrastructure of the Hezbollah militant group.
Tensions between Iran and Israel flared again on Sunday after a ceasefire agreement reached in April. Both sides declared a halt to the latest attacks on Monday, but Iran warned Israel to stop attacking southern Lebanon or face harsher and more decisive retaliation.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to honor the ceasefire agreement brokered by the U.S. between Israel and Lebanon, as he sought to finalize a deal with Iran within days.
However, the Israeli military affirmed it would continue striking southern Lebanon. On Tuesday, Avichay Adraee, Israeli military spokesperson, issued an urgent warning for residents in the Christian neighborhoods of Tyre to evacuate the area.
"Due to Hezbollah's violation of the ceasefire and its targeted attacks on Israel's frontlines, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) must take decisive action against them," Adraee said in a message posted on the X platform.
