Trump Reveals Nearing Final Stage of Middle East Peace Agreement

Donald Trump claims that the negotiation teams are in the final stretch of discussions to reach a peace agreement in the Middle East, despite multiple clashes between U.S. and Iranian forces in the past week.

On Tuesday, 9 Jun 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that negotiators are in the “final stretch” of talks to secure a Middle East peace deal, following a new round of attacks between Iran and Israel that risk reigniting the months-long conflict.

Trump repeatedly stated that a peace agreement with the Tehran government is close to becoming reality, yet diplomatic efforts have stalled as both sides continue to exchange fire, despite a ceasefire being in effect since 8 April.

“Iran and Israel have been firing back and forth, and now both sides have agreed through me to stop the attacks. We are in the final stretch of what will be a very good agreement,” the U.S. leader told reporters after returning from watching the NBA finals.

When asked if the agreement would be reached within days or weeks, Mr. Trump replied it would take about “two or three days.”

Previously, the Iranian government consistently insisted that any agreement must include Lebanon, while Israel continued to strike Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. This led Iran to launch missile attacks on Israel—the first since April—on Sunday, 7 Jun, prompting Israeli retaliatory strikes.

On Monday, Iran launched another missile barrage before announcing a halt to military operations but warned it would strike again if Israel did not cease attacks on Lebanon. A few hours later, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, “The frontline combat situation is now under control.”
