The United States has launched a new wave of attacks targeting Iran following previous stern statements by Donald Trump, while Iranian sources report missiles or explosive devices falling on at least two cities in the south.
The U.S. military commenced a new round of attacks on Iran on the evening of Wednesday, 10 Jun 2026 local U.S. time, after President Donald Trump declared that U.S. forces would strike Iran heavily, citing the recent exchange of fire between the two sides earlier that week.
The U.S. Central Command (Centcom) announced that the military began "additional self-defense strikes" at 17:15 Eastern U.S. time (21:15 GMT) on Wednesday, 10 Jun 2026, targeting multiple sites in Iran under orders from the President as Commander-in-Chief.
"This attack is a response to Iran's unreasonable and continuous aggression," the statement added.
Earlier, the U.S. had initiated strikes on Iran on Tuesday after Trump stated that the Tehran government had shot down a U.S. Army helicopter, while Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said they retaliated by attacking various U.S. bases in the region.
Iran's official broadcaster, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), reported that areas in the southern cities of Minab and Sirik, near the Strait of Hormuz, were hit by multiple waves of missiles or explosive devices from the "enemy" during the early hours of Thursday local time, coinciding with Wednesday evening in the U.S.
IRIB also reported that the air defense system in the city of Asaluyeh, located on the Persian Gulf, had been activated but added that so far, no enemy attacks had occurred on this critical energy hub.
