Trump Orders Another Attack on Iran, Threatens to Seize Kharg Island and Oil Assets, Echoing Venezuela Strategy

Donald Trump launched another attack on Iran tonight (local time), announcing plans to seize Kharg Island, which is a key part of Iran's oil infrastructure, and to take control of Iran's oil market as was done with Venezuela.

On Thursday, 11 Jun 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the U.S. would launch another attack on Iran tonight (U.S. time), following an initial strike on Wednesday. He vowed to seize Kharg Island and other Iranian oil infrastructure, similar to actions taken in Venezuela.

"The United States will launch the most intense attack on Iran tonight, whose navy, air force, radar systems, air defense, and nearly all offensive capabilities have already been destroyed!" Trump's message stated.

"In the near future, we will seize Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure points and take full control of their oil and gas markets, just as we successfully did with Venezuela, which had excellent outcomes for both Venezuela and the United States. Thank you for your attention! President Donald J. Trump."

Trump's latest post came after the U.S. resumed continuous attacks on Iran on Tuesday and Wednesday, citing delays in Iranian negotiations and Iran's earlier attack on a U.S. Apache helicopter that crashed earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported striking multiple U.S. bases in the region last night for the second consecutive day, following U.S. attacks on several sites across Iran. They warned Tehran would "retaliate even more fiercely" if further attacks occur.

Additionally, Iran announced a full closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to the attacks, though the U.S. military stated the closure did not actually take place.
