Trump Claims Agreement with Iran to Be Signed This Sunday

Donald Trump posted a message confirming that an agreement with Iran will be signed this Sunday, despite an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman recently denying the claim.

On Saturday, 14 June 2026, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social affirming that the agreement with Iran is set to be “signed tomorrow,” adding that the Strait of Hormuz will be open to all vessels immediately upon signing.

“The deal Barack Hussein Obama made with Iran, or the JCPOA, was a smooth, easy path for them to acquire nuclear weapons, which Iran should have had six years ago and likely would have used long before now,” Trump stated.

“But my deal with Iran is completely the opposite. It is a ‘wall preventing nuclear weapons!’ In fact, they no longer want nuclear weapons and will never possess them, whether by purchase, development, or any other means.”

“This agreement is scheduled to be signed tomorrow (Sunday, 14 June), and immediately after signing, the Strait of Hormuz will be open to everyone. Our current relationship with Iran is fundamentally different and better than previous administrations, unlike the Obama era, when hundreds of billions of dollars, including $1.7 billion in cash, were paid to them. This deal involves no exchange of money, not even a single dollar!”

“When the time is right and everything is calm, we will retrieve the nuclear dust buried deep beneath solid granite mountains, thanks to our beautiful B-2 bombers and skilled pilots. We will then neutralize and destroy it, whether in Iran or the United States.”

“We look forward to working with Iran and across the Middle East for a long time to come. We sincerely hope this entire process will proceed quickly, smoothly, and easily. But if not, we have decisive alternatives, which we hope will never need to be used again! Thank you for your attention to this matter!!! President Donald J. Trump.”

Trump’s message was posted after an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman denied reports of a signing with the U.S. on Sunday but did not rule out a possible signing within the next few days.

Earlier on Friday (12 June), senior Trump administration officials revealed that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under negotiation between the U.S. and Iran would, if signed, initiate a 60-day timeframe for “technical-level” negotiations.

Officials added that while the MOU outlines Iran’s key commitments, including ending its nuclear program, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and allowing the U.S. to destroy Iran’s nuclear materials, subsequent high-level technical talks will focus on detailed implementation of these commitments.
