Donald Trump expressed displeasure over Israel's attack on Lebanon's capital earlier today, prompting Iran to warn it might affect negotiations with the U.S. Trump insisted the agreement would be signed today.
On Sunday, 14 Jun 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social expressing his displeasure at Israel's renewed attacks on Lebanon earlier this morning. He said such actions should not happen, especially on such an important day, and claimed a deal between the U.S. and Iran would be signed.
"The attack on Beirut this morning should not have happened, especially on this special day when we are so close to a peace agreement with Iran," Trump stated.
"Israel has the right to defend itself against various threats, but the Israeli retaliatory strikes are very minor and insignificant. No one was injured, harmed, or killed, and this should not disrupt this critical process."
"We are now very close to an agreement that will bring peace to this region, including Lebanon. All parties should take a step back. There should be no further Israeli attacks anywhere in Lebanon, nor any attacks from other parties, including Hezbollah, against Israel."
"This could be the start of a long and beautiful peace — don't ruin it! Thank you all for your attention to this matter. President Donald J. Trump."
Earlier, Israel announced it had struck Hezbollah's command center, an Iranian-backed armed group in Beirut.
The attack prompted Iranian authorities to warn that it puts U.S.-Iran negotiations at risk. Iran's chief negotiator said it was "no longer beneficial" to continue talks and accused the Washington government of failing to uphold its commitments.
