Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday by announcing a peace deal with Iran and hosting a UFC fight on the White House lawn, attended by more than 4,000 people.
On 15 June 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump marked his 80th birthday by announcing progress in a peace deal to end the conflict with Iran and hosting a UFC mixed martial arts (MMA) event on the south lawn of the White House.
Before the matches began, Trump announced that a preliminary agreement to end the war with Iran had been reached. The U.S. would lift its blockade of Iran, and the Strait of Hormuz would reopen to shipping, potentially easing oil price pressures and boosting global market confidence, although key details of the agreement were still under negotiation.
After addressing the Iran issue, the U.S. leader turned his attention to the UFC event held inside a specially constructed temporary arena at the White House, featuring an octagonal ring at its center. The event was attended by senior government officials and leading Republican figures, including FBI Director Kash Patel, Speaker of the U.S. House Mike Johnson, and Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
Trump and UFC President Dana White, a close political ally, left the Oval Office to the Blue Room balcony to watch the fights, standing to honor the U.S. national anthem amid cheers from the crowd and fighter jets flying overhead.
Over 4,000 invited spectators attended the event in the temporary arena, equipped with advanced lighting, sound systems, and large video screens, while thousands more watched a live broadcast on giant screens at the Ellipse near the White House.
