Two Helicopters Collide Mid-Air in Brazil, Killing 6 American Artist Possibly Among Passengers

Two helicopters collided mid-air before crashing in the western part of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, resulting in the deaths of all six passengers and crew. An American singer may have been among those on board.

The Rio de Janeiro military fire unit reported the tragic incident of two helicopters colliding mid-air, killing all six passengers and crew. One helicopter reportedly crashed onto a car dealership parking lot containing several electric vehicles, causing a fire that was later brought under control by authorities.

Brazilian police revealed that the name Oliver Tree, an American singer and comedian, appeared on the passenger list submitted to aviation authorities. However, officials have not yet confirmed the identities of all the deceased.

Before the incident, Oliver Tree had performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 4 June. On Saturday, he posted a video on Instagram playing football in a community area in Brazil.

Fernandes de Freitas, a tire repairman and eyewitness, recounted seeing one helicopter catch fire after the mid-air collision and witnessing a passenger jump from the other helicopter before it crashed to the ground.

He described the event as a terrifying and deeply distressing scene, while authorities continue to investigate the details of the incident.
