Trump Reveals Digital Signing of Agreement with Iran, Details to be Announced Soon

Donald Trump confirmed that the memorandum of understanding with Iran has been digitally signed. The Strait of Hormuz is scheduled to fully reopen on 20 June, with plans to proceed with nuclear project negotiations and extend the permanent peace agreement.

On 16 June 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed during discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron at the G7 summit that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Iran has been digitally signed, with details of the agreement to be disclosed soon.

Meanwhile, a senior U.S. official added that the Strait of Hormuz will fully reopen on Friday, 20 June, following the official signing ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland. Iranian media reported that after the U.S. lifted its naval blockade, three Iranian oil tankers and two cargo ships have already passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance told CNN that the memorandum is about one and a half pages long and sets the framework for overall cooperation. Key details will be further discussed during technical negotiations. He revealed that the document requires Iran to commit to promoting peace and stability in the region, to cease support for groups the U.S. designates as terrorist organizations, and to have verifiable commitments not to develop nuclear weapons.

U.S. officials stated that the document was electronically signed by President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament. The agreement also includes an extension of the ceasefire for another 60 days to allow both parties to negotiate the full peace agreement in the future.

The U.S. and Iran will begin technical discussions on the nuclear program within this week. Sanctions relief or the unlocking of Iranian assets will depend on Iran’s strict adherence to the commitments outlined in the agreement.
