Switzerland Confirms Hosting Peace Agreement Signing Between US and Iran This Friday

Switzerland has confirmed it will host the signing ceremony of a peace agreement between the US and Iran. Although the agreement's details have not been disclosed, reports suggest the US is preparing to ease restrictions on Iran's oil exports.

On 17 June 2026 GMT+7, the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the US-Iran peace agreement signing ceremony will take place this Friday at the Burgenstock Resort in central Switzerland.

The Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this location was proposed by Pakistan and Qatar, who acted as mediators in the negotiations. It has also received approval from both the US and Iran. Switzerland will facilitate and provide the necessary diplomatic and logistical arrangements for the meeting.

Reports note that Burgenstock Resort previously hosted an international peace conference on Ukraine two years ago. However, official details of the bilateral agreement have not yet been released.

The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, reported that under this agreement, the US will immediately allow Iran to resume exporting oil and fuel as an economic incentive to end the conflict.

However, senior US officials revealed that long-term sanction relief will depend on Iran’s compliance with conditions, especially regarding the Strait of Hormuz shipping route and its nuclear commitments.

Reports also indicate that Iran will not immediately regain access to billions of dollars in frozen overseas funds until further progress is made according to the conditions agreed upon by both parties.
