Several Iranian media outlets headlined declarations of victory after their government signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S., appearing to gain multiple advantages.
On Thursday, 18 Jun 2026 GMT+7, various Iranian newspapers similarly headlined a “victory declaration” after the U.S. and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to end a war that had lasted since late February, with some describing U.S. President Donald Trump’s military plans as a complete failure.
“Javan,” a prominent daily newspaper close to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that the U.S. faced a “dignified defeat,” noting that despite Israel and the U.S. joining the conflict with ambitious goals, Iran emerged stronger than opponents had expected.
Meanwhile, the front page of “Hamshahri,” a newspaper linked to the Iranian government, featured an image of Trump biting a crumpled piece of paper with the headline “Gone with the Wind,” a common Persian phrase meaning something lost or vanished.
The conservative and influential Iranian newspaper “Kayhan” used the headline: “The Strait of Hormuz is our deterrent weapon; our power is not something to be negotiated.”
Another newspaper, “Sazandegi,” focused on the potential economic benefits after the U.S.-Iran agreement, prominently printing the number “300,” referencing a possible $300 billion national recovery fund outlined in the deal.
