Continuous heavy rainfall in southern China has caused severe flooding in numerous areas, with water inundating communities, hospitals, and many shops, forcing urgent evacuation of patients to escape the floods.
China's CCTV reported that ongoing heavy rains caused river levels in several waterways to rise beyond warning thresholds, resulting in flooding of communities, hospitals, and shops in Guizhou and Guangxi provinces.
Local media images revealed a worrying situation as a hospital was surrounded by floodwaters, prompting staff to build a temporary bridge to allow medical personnel access, while inflatable boats were used to transport patients in urgent cases amid strong currents.
Chinese authorities stated that over 500 patients have been safely evacuated from the area, with no reports of fatalities or injuries linked to the incident.
Local officials implemented a level 4 flood response—the lowest of China's four-tier flood warning system—and evacuated approximately 620 residents from high-risk areas.
Meanwhile, China's Ministry of Emergency Management and Ministry of Natural Resources warned that many areas remain at high risk for geological disasters such as landslides and mudslides, ordering local agencies to closely monitor water conditions.
The heavy rain situation in southern China remains concerning, as the region's terrain is prone to flash flooding, especially during the rainy season when water accumulates significantly.
