Israeli Drone Kills Two More in Lebanon Amid US-Brokered Ceasefire Talks

Israeli drones have caused two more deaths in Lebanon while ambassadors from both sides hold their second day of ceasefire negotiations in the United States.

Lebanese government media reported that two people were killed in an Israeli drone strike in the village of Kfar Rumman in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, while Israeli and Lebanese officials are pushing through tense talks to end the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.

Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported that the two victims died after a drone attacked a "four-wheel drive" vehicle on the outskirts of Dabsha near the village of Kfar Rumman.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) explained, when asked about the strike, that they detected a vehicle carrying suspects crossing the security zone at Ali al-Taher ridge, which posed a threat to IDF troops, so the Israeli Air Force attacked the suspects "to eliminate the threat."

The ceasefire in Lebanon is one of the terms in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreed between the US and Iran, but Israel continues to carry out strikes in Lebanon despite US requests, severely complicating efforts to achieve peace in the region.

The latest attack also occurred while Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors met in Washington, D.C. for the second day of US-mediated talks, following a fragile ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah that took effect earlier this month but has yet to stop attacks.

Lebanon's Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday that Israeli attacks, which intensified again starting 2 March, have caused at least 4,192 deaths and injured 12,171 people.

At the same time, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that Hezbollah has fired more than 7,000 rockets, missiles, and drones into Israel, resulting in 36 Israeli soldiers and 4 civilians killed.
