Princess Kate has completed her mission to climb the highest peaks in England, Scotland, and Wales with the goal of raising funds for cancer charities and increasing awareness of the disease.
Foreign news agencies reported on 28 Jun 2026 that Catherine, Princess of Wales, completed the "Three Peaks Challenge" hike to raise funds for the hospital where she received cancer treatment. She described the mission as “an opportunity to explore life from a new perspective after diagnosis and to give back to the community.”
Princess Kate tested her endurance in this challenge, which involved climbing the highest peaks in England, Scotland, and Wales within 24 hours to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
The Princess of Wales revealed that she was undergoing cancer treatment in March 2024, and in early 2025, she confirmed that her condition was in remission.
Last Sunday, Princess Kate expressed her desire to support “holistic healthcare” for cancer patients, explaining this approach aims to develop “well-being, mental resilience, and quality of life during extremely difficult times.”
She posted on social media alongside a photo of herself atop Ben Nevis, stating, “Cancer affects more than just the body.”
“It changes your thoughts and feelings and profoundly impacts every aspect of life. I understand this firsthand and know that the journey through treatment and beyond requires more than just medication alone.”
She further stated, “Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness of the profound impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare. Each person is unique, and ensuring a comprehensive, human-centered approach helps those facing cancer cope with the personal challenges after diagnosis.”
“Holistic therapy supports medical treatment and enhances patients’ ability to maintain well-being, mental resilience, and quality of life during particularly difficult periods.”
Over the past weekend, Princess Kate successfully climbed Scafell Pike in England, Ben Nevis in Scotland, and Snowdon (known as Yr Wyddfa in Welsh) in Wales.
After completing the Wales climb, the Princess of Wales was greeted by family members including the Prince of Wales, their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, as well as her parents Carole and Michael Middleton and her brother James.
When announcing her cancer diagnosis, the Princess described the event as “a huge shock” and endured “an incredibly difficult few months.” Details about her specific cancer were not disclosed, but Kensington Palace stated confidence in her full recovery.
About a year later, when she announced her remission, she expressed “relief” and resumed official royal duties from that point onward.
