Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson confirmed they currently have no plans for negotiations with the United States at any level in the near future, following Donald Trump's recent statement that officials from both sides would meet on Tuesday.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported on Monday, 29 Jun 2026 GMT+7, that Esmaeil Baqaei stated Iran has no scheduled negotiation meetings with the U.S. at any level in the coming days, as Tehran remains focused on implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) rather than moving toward final agreement talks.
Baqaei said Tehran's current top priority is ensuring all provisions in the MOU are fulfilled and advancing its claims under the agreement.
He added that the U.S. has issued the necessary licenses tied to Clause 10 of the agreement, which covers oil sales, and Iran is monitoring the enforcement of those licenses.
Additionally, he noted that actions related to Clause 11, concerning the unfreezing of Iran's seized assets, are underway. In this context, an Iranian expert delegation will travel to Doha, Qatar, later this week.
Baqaei clarified that Iran and the U.S. have not entered final agreement negotiations. He explained that under Clause 13 of the MOU, final agreement talks can only begin once Clauses 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11 are implemented and continuously complied with.
He further stated that any potential U.S. representatives' visit to Qatar would be unrelated to the Iranian delegation's trip, which is solely to monitor MOU progress, including Clause 11.
Baqaei's remarks came after U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, “Iran has requested a meeting, which will take place tomorrow in Doha!”
The U.S. and Iran recently announced a ceasefire on Monday after the U.S. launched military strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz, citing retaliation for Iranian attacks on commercial vessels, while Tehran responded with attacks on U.S. military targets in various Middle Eastern countries.
