Explosion at Residential Building in Monaco Injures 3 Police Suggest Possible First-Ever Attack in Nations History

An explosion occurred in front of a residential building in Monaco, resulting in three injuries, two of them serious. Authorities believe this was likely an attack using an explosive device, marking the first incident of this kind in the country's history.

On 30 June 2026, an explosion took place in front of a residential building on Rue Révérend Père Louis Frolla, near the French border in Monaco, at approximately 9:00 PM local time. Initial reports indicate at least three people were injured, two critically, and were taken to the hospital.

Christophe Mirmond, Minister of State of Monaco, revealed that preliminary information suggests this was likely an attack and officials are investigating the cause. He stated the blast was caused by a homemade explosive device containing nuts and ball bearings to enhance its destructive effect. Reports noted a suspicious bag was found abandoned in front of the building before the explosion. He also remarked that this may be the first attack of this nature in Monaco's history.

Following the incident, police and rescue teams quickly secured the area, examined the scene, and are intensively investigating to identify the perpetrators and their motives behind the bombing.
