A passenger train derailed shortly after leaving Kyoto Station in Japan during the early morning. More than 10 passengers and crew members were safe with no injuries reported. This caused suspension of some train services and delays to several trains.
On 30 June 2026 GMT+7, a passenger train operated by Kintetsu Railway derailed near Kyoto Station at approximately 05:13 local time. The train was a four-car local service on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line heading towards Kashiharajingū-mae Station in Nara Prefecture and was the first service of the day.
Kintetsu Railway stated that about 10 passengers and crew members were on board at the time and that no one was injured. Fire department officials also confirmed no injuries were reported. After the incident, authorities safely evacuated all passengers back to Kyoto Station.
