Trump Defends Surge in Crypto Earnings, Boasts Everyone Is Profiting

Donald Trump defended himself amid allegations of a conflict of interest over his massive cryptocurrency earnings, stating he does not interfere with his personal funds and emphasizing that everyone is making profits.

On Wednesday, 1 Jul 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump responded to reports that he earned as much as $1.2 billion from his family’s cryptocurrency business since resuming the presidency for a second term last January, sparking scrutiny over possible conflicts of interest.

“You know why I’m making profits — because the stock market is going up. Everyone is making profits,” Trump told reporters as he prepared to board the first flight of the new Air Force One in Qatar as a gift.

When asked about criticism that he exploited his position for personal gain, the billionaire president said his income is held in Blind Trusts managed independently by others to ensure he cannot act on such allegations.

“I don’t get involved with my personal finances. We have funds that manage my money,” Trump said. “I’ve made a lot of money before becoming president, and they invest my money without me discussing it with them.”

“I don’t know which career is better — politics or business — but I’ve had a great business career, and you know that. You see the money, and you report on it,” he added. “So, we all benefit. I profit because I have a lot of money and plenty of cash.”

Trump continued to insist his wealth comes from his past career, despite the fact that the reported income is tied to cryptocurrency ventures launched shortly before he returned to the White House.

The U.S. Office of Government Ethics revealed most income comes from “World Liberty Financial,” a crypto business Trump co-founded with his son and the son of Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, generating over $500 million, approximately 16.25 billion baht.

Additionally, Trump earned $635 million, about 20.64 billion baht, from selling the meme coin “$TRUMP,” which was launched just hours before he assumed office for his second term as U.S. president.

The report shows that income from digital assets has become Trump’s main revenue source, surpassing the family’s traditional real estate business that historically formed the foundation of their wealth.
