The Israeli Ambassador to Thailand and his delegation traveled to Udon Thani to join the opening ceremony of a playground at Ban Thung Thong School, aiming to strengthen friendship and promote cooperation between the two countries with a 72-year history.
On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Israel, Dr. Alona Fisher-Kamm, the Israeli Ambassador to Thailand, and a delegation from the Israeli Embassy visited Udon Thani Province on 1 July 2026 to reinforce friendship and enhance cooperation between the two countries.
A key activity of this visit was the inauguration of a new playground at Ban Thung Thong School, featuring new equipment donated by the Israeli Embassy. They also presented desks and chairs for students and a clean water dispenser to improve the school's environment.
Currently, Ban Thung Thong School has 124 students from Kindergarten Year 2 through Grade 6, with Mrs. Dujdao Khanunthong serving as the principal.
The playground opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Jakraphan Chantraphum, Deputy Governor of Udon Thani; Mr. Thirayut Unwiset, Director of the Udon Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 4; along with teachers, students, and community members.
During the ceremony, the Israeli Ambassador said, “Children are the nation's future. I hope the playground and educational equipment we provide today will create a safe, enjoyable, and inspiring environment where students can learn, play, and grow with quality. We wish for children to have full opportunities to learn, play happily, and dare to dream without limits.”
During the visit, the Israeli Ambassador and delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr. Rachan Sunhua, Governor of Udon Thani, and senior provincial officials at the Udon Thani Provincial Hall. Both sides discussed ways to promote cooperation between Israel and Udon Thani, particularly in labor, agriculture, education, and other mutually beneficial areas.
They also met with the family of Mr. Chairat Sanusan, a Thai agricultural worker who had worked in southern Israel near the Gaza Strip for about two years before being killed by Hamas terrorists during the 7 October 2023 attack on Israel. The Ambassador expressed deep condolences to Mr. Chairat’s wife and family.
Since Mr. Chairat’s passing, his wife has received compensation and monthly support payments from the Israeli government at the same rate provided to the families of Israeli victims affected by the incident.
The Israeli Ambassador told the bereaved family, “We continue to remember Mr. Chairat and all victims who died on 7 October. Israel stands firmly beside every family, hoping you find strength and comfort in knowing you are not left alone.”
The visit of the Israeli Ambassador and delegation to Udon Thani reflects the close ties between Israel and Thailand that have lasted over many decades, based on strong friendship, good relations between the peoples, and ongoing cooperation for more than seventy years, bringing benefits to both countries.
