Belgian Diamond Traders Present 18-Carat Gold Ring with 321 Diamonds to Trump Following Import Tax Exemption

Belgian diamond traders presented an 18-carat gold ring set with 321 diamonds to President Donald Trump after the Belgian diamond industry received a U.S. import tax exemption, raising concerns about the gift's appropriateness.

On 5 July 2026 GMT+7, the Associated Press reported that the Antwerp World Diamond Center (AWDC) in Belgium presented an 18-carat gold ring adorned with gemstones to U.S. President Donald Trump to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States' declaration of independence.

The report stated that the ring includes 321 diamonds, 56 sapphires, 13 emeralds, and 6 rubies. It is designed with two large letter T's, the U.S. flag, the years 1776 and 2026, and the numbers 45 and 47, symbolizing Trump's terms as the 45th and 47th president.

Additionally, the ring features a diamond-encrusted eagle, a ruby shield, emerald olive branches, and the inscription "250 YEARS USA" on the gold band. Inside, it is engraved with "Crafted in Antwerp for Donald John Trump." Experts estimate the ring's value at between $25,000 and $35,000, roughly 810,000 to 1.13 million baht.

This gift was presented just months after Belgium's diamond industry received positive news when the U.S. lifted import taxes on cut diamonds from Antwerp, which exports over $2 billion worth annually to the U.S., prompting debate over the appropriateness of this gift.
