Prince Harry will visit London alone without his wife or children, as it has been confirmed that his family will not receive police protection.
The BBC reported on 4 July 2026 that Prince Harry will travel to the UK next week alone, without his wife Meghan, son Archie, or daughter Lilibet, as originally planned, after confirmation that his family will not receive taxpayer-funded police protection.
However, there is still a possibility that Meghan and their children will join Prince Harry later in the week when the five-day itinerary moves to Birmingham to promote the Invictus Games.
It is currently unclear whether King Charles III will meet with his grandchildren, whom he has not seen in person for four years, following changes to the schedule.
Previously, many viewed this London visit as the most likely opportunity for the British royal family to reunite, after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex agreed to reside at royal residences with their two children.
This change means Meghan will not accompany her husband on the visit to the Royal Hospital Chelsea for meetings related to the Invictus Games on Wednesday; Prince Harry will attend alone.
Discussions about security arrangements for the final part of Prince Harry's visit are ongoing, with no final decision made yet.
Earlier reports indicated the itinerary's final days would include a visit to Althorp House in Northamptonshire, the family estate of Diana, Princess of Wales, Prince Harry's mother.
It is understood there was originally a plan for Prince Harry to bring his wife and children to visit their mother's grave as well.
If Meghan arrives in the UK later in the week as expected, she is scheduled to join Prince Harry at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham to participate in a countdown event marking one year until the Invictus Games at that venue.
Prince Harry has had ongoing disputes with the UK government over security since he stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States with his family.
He disagrees with the decision of the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) to assess his security on a case-by-case basis, given that he visits the UK only occasionally.
Previously, Prince Harry said he would not bring his family back to the UK without improved security arrangements, telling the BBC in 2015 that he "could see no way" to bring his wife and children back at that time.
Prince Harry and Meghan last appeared together in the UK in 2022 during the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Since then, Prince Harry has traveled to the UK alone, including a visit to see his father during a trip last September.
