Australian authorities are urgently investigating several mysterious spherical objects found on a beach in Queensland. The objects are initially believed to be space debris, and the area has been sealed off to prevent danger.  - Tags: [Australia, Queensland, space debris, investigation, safety]

Foreign news agencies reported on 5 Jul 2026 GMT+7 that Australian authorities are rushing to trace the origin of large mysterious spherical objects washed ashore by waves on a beach in northern Queensland last weekend. They are initially believed to be space debris.  - Tags: [Australia, Queensland, space debris, investigation, beach]

So far, six solid spherical objects have been found on Forrest Beach, north of Townsville, Queensland. The Australian Space Agency (ASA) is currently working to identify where these objects came from.  - Tags: [Forrest Beach, Townsville, Queensland, Australian Space Agency, space debris]

It was reported that officials in chemical protective suits were placing these spherical objects into hazardous material containers under police guard, due to concerns that the objects may contain dangerous substances inside.  - Tags: [chemical protection, hazardous materials, police, space debris]

Queensland Fire Service disclosed on Sunday that a 50-meter exclusion zone remains in effect. They warned the public that anyone finding suspicious objects in the area must not touch them under any circumstances, should immediately move away, and call emergency services.  - Tags: [Queensland Fire Service, exclusion zone, public safety, emergency services]

Online speculation has started suggesting these spherical objects might be fuel tanks used to propel spacecraft, which implies they could contain highly flammable or chemically reactive substances inside.  - Tags: [spacecraft fuel tanks, flammable substances, online speculation]

However, this is not the first time such mysterious objects have been found along Australia's coastline.  - Tags: [space debris, Australia, coastline, previous incidents]

In 2023, India confirmed that a large metallic dome-shaped object washed ashore on a beach in western Australia near Perth was a piece from one of their rockets, specifically from the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).  - Tags: [India, Australia, rocket debris, PSLV, Perth]

Going back to 2011, a similar spherical object was found in a remote grassland area of Namibia in southern Africa. Experts at the time believed it was likely a fuel tank or a hydrazine container—a highly volatile and dangerous rocket propellant.  - Tags: [Namibia, rocket fuel tank, hydrazine, space debris]
