China is facing volatile weather conditions following continuous heavy rain and the influence of Tropical Storm Maysak, causing flash floods in many areas with at least five deaths reported. Authorities are rushing to provide assistance to local residents.
Chinese media reported that in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China, two villagers died due to mountain flash floods. One drowned while herding cattle, and another fell into the water while attempting to move a herd to escape the floodwaters.
Meanwhile, in Fushun city, Liaoning Province, three more people died after several hours of heavy rain, with some areas receiving over 32 centimeters of accumulated rainfall, leading to flash floods in multiple locations.
In southern China, the river in Fangchenggang city, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, overflowed and flooded the area. Several cars were submerged nearly up to their roofs. Authorities had to use rubber boats to rescue stranded residents, who described the floods as the worst in over 20 years.
Additionally, Tropical Storm Maysak uprooted trees in Dongxing city near the Vietnam border after passing Hainan Island and making landfall in Vietnam. The storm has since weakened to a depression but has left widespread damage.
