Runners were alarmed when a bull slipped and crashed into them during the San Fermin Running of the Bulls festival in Pamplona, Spain, on the festival's fourth day. This caused participants to fall chaotically, creating panic and confusion.
Officials revealed that this run took about 2 minutes and 32 seconds, slightly slower than last year due to many runners blocking the bulls' path. Nevertheless, all six bulls managed to enter the bullring, despite slipping and hitting barriers at a dangerous curve.
Navarra University Hospital reported nine people injured, with five hospitalized. Most injuries resulted from being hit, falling, or impact forces, and no one was gored by the bulls during this run.
The bulls running on day four came from the Álvaro Núñez farm, participating in Pamplona's festival for the second year. Although known to be relatively docile, their speed and strength made this run one of the most dangerous of the year, especially at the curve onto Estafeta Street—a frequent accident spot due to the slippery ancient stone road and the bulls’ sudden sharp turn.
The San Fermin festival is held annually from 6 to 14 July, with the main event being the release of six bulls running a historic 875-meter street route to the bullring amid hundreds of daring runners. While attracting tourists worldwide, it remains one of Spain's most dangerous festivals, with dozens injured yearly and 16 deaths recorded historically during the running of the bulls.
