Venezuelan authorities have updated the death toll from last month's severe earthquake, raising it to 4,490 fatalities, while nearly 20,000 people still live in temporary shelters.

On Sunday, 12 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Jorge Rodríguez, President of Venezuela's National Assembly, announced that since the twin powerful earthquakes on 24 Jun 2026 GMT+7, the official death toll has risen to at least 4,490, with approximately 16,740 injured.

So far, rescue teams have saved 6,462 survivors, and the authorities have provided assistance to 120,794 families. They have established 108 temporary camps housing 19,583 people, while another 17,907 remain without permanent housing.

Reports indicate the earthquakes damaged 856 buildings, including 190 that completely collapsed.

Relief teams have distributed 9,995 tons of food and over 18.5 million liters of drinking water, while 32,401 patients have received medical treatment.
