Iranian Military Claims Attack on U.S. Base in Jordan Following New Maritime Blockade

Iran claims its military has launched an attack on a U.S. base in Jordan after the U.S. began a new naval blockade and increased attacks on various Iranian locations.

On Wednesday, 15 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Iran's official news agency IRNA reported that the Iranian military attacked U.S. assets at the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, coinciding with the U.S. initiating a renewed blockade of Iranian ports.

The report states that Iranian attack drones targeted F-18 fighter jet parking areas, residential buildings, and large equipment storage facilities at Al-Azraq base. The Iranian military declared this operation "will continue until ultimate victory is achieved."

Previously, Iran had attacked Al-Azraq Air Base last week, claiming to have successfully destroyed a hangar housing U.S. F-35 fighter jets.

Iran's latest actions come as the U.S. Navy begins maritime blockade operations to prevent vessels from entering or leaving Iranian ports and is conducting additional military strikes aimed at Iran’s military capabilities around the Strait of Hormuz.
